Digg is the undisputed 800 lb. gorilla of social media sites. Hands down, Digg is the winner when it comes to the amount of traffic it can push to your site. However, Digg is a tough nut to crack. Its culture is less forgiving than other social media sites.
To a certain extent there has always been tension between bloggers and diggers. It should be a simple formula, bloggers publish and diggers dig. And, if the content is not dug then it is buried. If it were only so simple. It is a well known fact that a large proportion of Digg users feel that most of the content submitted by bloggers is either irrelevant, unworthy, or simply just spam. And, bloggers think that Digg users, at times, act like trolls. Whatever your take on the controversy might be, if you expect to succeed with Digg then you need to understand Digg’s culture. StumbleUpon is arguably one of the most popular social media web-sites on the Internet. Its success and popularity are largely due to its unique combination of social discovery, social networking and social bookmarking.
If you are a web surfer it is a fun and fantastic way to discover new websites. And, If you are a publisher it is a great way to get exposure for your content.
